If you have cucumbers in your refrigerator, it is advised that you dispose of them immediately. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a recall of cucumbers because they have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella. The affected cucumbers came from Bedner Growers, Inc., in Boynton Beach, Florida. The recalled cucumbers were sold to consumers at the three Bedner's Farm Fresh Market locations in Florida, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, and West Palm Beach, between April 29, 2025, and May 14, 2025. Because the recalled cucumbers do not bear any stickers or other labeling, customers should discard and not consume any cucumbers that were purchased at these locations between April 29, 2025, and May 14, 2025. The recalled cucumbers were also sold to a wholesale distributor, which has been directed to contact its customers with recall instructions. So far, there have been 26 reported cases in Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Salmonella is a group of bacteria that can cause a gastrointestinal illness known as salmonellosis, according to the FDA. Individuals infected with salmonella may start to show symptoms 12 to 72 hours after exposure to the bacteria. Common symptoms of salmonella infection include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
