Key Points

  • Spring & Mulberry has expanded its chocolate bar recall to include multiple additional flavors and lot numbers due to possible Salmonella contamination identified through third-party testing.
  • The affected chocolate bars were sold nationwide online and through select retail partners starting September 15, 2025, and include flavors such as Earl Grey, Lavender Rose, Mango Chili, Mixed Berry, and others.
  • No illnesses have been reported so far, but Salmonella can cause serious symptoms, especially in children, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals. Consumers are advised not to eat the recalled products and to dispose of them or request a refund or replacement.

Spring & Mulberry of Raleigh, North Carolina, is expanding its chocolate bar recall to include additional flavors because of possible Salmonella contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Earlier this month, the company announced it was recalling its Mint Leaf Date-Sweetened Chocolate bar. Since then, the brand has added more flavors to the alert, including:

  • Earl Grey, lot number: 025258, box color: purple
  • Lavender Rose, lot numbers: 025259 and 025260, box color: light blue
  • Mango Chili, lot number: 025283, box color: orange
  • Mint Leaf, lot number: 025255, box color: teal
  • Mixed Berry, lot numbers: 025275, 025281, and 025337, box color: purple
  • Mulberry Fennel, lot number: 025345, box color: burgundy
  • Pecan Date, lot numbers: 025261, 025265, 025267, 025268, 025339, and 025343, box color: yellow
  • Pure Dark Minis, lot number: 025273, box color: blue

The lot code is listed on the back of the packaging and on the inner flow wrap. The affected products were available for purchase online and through select retail partners nationwide since September 15, 2025.

So far, no illnesses or adverse health effects have been reported in connection with the recall, which was initiated after routine third-party testing found that the finished product tested positive for Salmonella.

In the alert, the company reports that "because Salmonella can be difficult to detect and may appear intermittently, we are now expanding the recall beyond Mint Leaf in consultation with the FDA to include additional production lots made during the same time period on the same equipment."

The FDA warns that healthy individuals infected with Salmonella may experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Symptoms usually start six hours to six days after infection and typically last four to seven days, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

In rare circumstances, an infection can spread throughout the body, causing more severe illnesses such as meningitis, endocarditis, and arthritis. Children, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems are at the highest risk. If you experience any of these symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
