If you take a daily greens supplement, check the label. Why Not Natural of Houston, Texas, is recalling its Why Not Natural Organic Moringa Green Superfood Capsules because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The 120-capsule bottles have the lot number A25G051 and an expiration date of July 2028, both of which are printed on the bottom. The capsules were distributed nationwide via Why Not Natural’s website and through third-party online retailers such as Amazon from July 2025 to January 2026. The distribution and production of the product have been suspended while the FDA and Why Not Natural investigate the cause of the contamination.

The recall is part of an ongoing investigation of a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium and Salmonella Newport infections linked to moringa powder. The recall also includes all Live it Up brand Super Greens dietary supplement powders, including both original and wild berry flavors, with lot numbers beginning with the letter “A,” as well as all stick pack products with expiration dates from August 2026 to January 2028.

Since January 15, a total of 20 new illnesses have been reported, including a new outbreak strain of Salmonella Newport. As of January 29, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported a total of 65 people from 28 states have been infected with one of the outbreak strains of Salmonella. There have been 14 hospitalizations and no deaths.

According to the FDA, symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps typically occur within 12 to 72 hours after consuming food contaminated with Salmonella, and the symptoms usually last four to seven days. Children under five, older individuals, and those with weakened immune systems are more likely to get severe infections. Contact your healthcare provider if you think you may have developed symptoms of a Salmonella infection after consuming the recalled dietary supplements.
