A total of 45 people have become ill with a strain of Salmonella connected to Live it Up's Super Greens dietary supplement powder, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in collaboration with state and local partners, are currently investigating the multi-state outbreak. The illnesses started on dates ranging from August 22, 2025, to December 30, 2025, across 21 states, including Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin. Sixteen out of 20 sick people who were able to provide information consumed Live it Up Super Greens before becoming ill. There have been 12 hospitalizations and no deaths. Also, per the CDC notice, "the true number of sick people in this outbreak was likely much higher than the number reported, and this outbreak may not have been limited to the states with known illnesses. This is because many people recover without medical care and are not tested for Salmonella. In addition, recent illnesses may not yet be reported, as it usually takes 3 to 4 weeks to determine if a sick person is part of an outbreak." According to the FDA, symptoms of Salmonella infection occur within 12 to 72 hours after consuming contaminated food. The symptoms usually last four to seven days and can include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. Children under five, older individuals, and those with weakened immune systems are more likely to have severe infections.
