- Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice and other frozen products are being recalled due to potential glass contamination.
- The recall affects over 3.3 million pounds of frozen chicken fried rice products sold in the U.S. and Canada.
- If you have these products, do not eat them—throw them away or return them for a refund.
Check your freezer. Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. of Portland, Oregon, is recalling approximately 3,370,530 pounds of its frozen not-ready-to-eat chicken fried rice products because they may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically glass, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The following products are affected by the recall:
- 1.53-kilogram cardboard packages containing 6 bags of frozen “AJINOMOTO YAKITORI CHICKEN WITH JAPANESE-STYLE FRIED RICE” with best before dates of Sept. 09, 2026, through Nov. 12, 2026
- 20-ounce (1 pound 4 ounce) plastic bag packages containing frozen “TRADER JOE’S Chicken Fried Rice with stir fried rice, vegetables, seasoned dark chicken meat and eggs” with best-by dates of 9/8/2026 through 11/17/2026
The products bear the establishment number P-18356 inside the USDA mark of inspection. The Trader Joe’s item was shipped to Trader Joe’s locations nationwide. The Ajinomoto item was exported only to Canada. The items were produced between September 8, 2025, and November 17, 2025.
Ajinomoto Foods received four consumer complaints reporting glass in the product, triggering the recall. So far, there have been no confirmed reports of injury.

The FSIS has classified the recall as Class 1, meaning the "recall involves a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."
