The magnets on the inside of the detachable covers can become dislodged, posing a choking hazard to children.The recalled diffuser covers were sold on Pura's website, Amazon, Target, Scheels, and other stores nationwide from August 2023 through May 2025. Now's the time to check any scent diffusers you have plugged in around your home. Pura has issued a recall of about 851,400 Pura 4 smart home fragrance diffuser covers, according to a notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The magnets on the inside of the detachable covers can become dislodged, posing an ingestion hazard to children. The diffuser’s detachable cover contains five magnets: three small magnets and two larger magnets. The two larger magnets in the center may become dislodged. The affected diffuser covers have the following serial number ranges: JX230000001 to JX230801425 and JX240000001 to JX240049959. The serial number is located on the rear label above the metal prongs. The devices were sold on pura.com, Amazon, and in Target, Scheels, and other stores nationwide from August 2023 through May 2025 for about $50. If you own one of these diffusers, immediately dispose of the magnetic cover and keep the diffusers out of reach of children and pets. You can contact Pura Scents to receive a free replacement cover. Pura is also contacting all known purchasers directly about the recall. No injuries have been reported. When high-powered magnets are swallowed, the ingested magnets can attract each other, or other metal objects, and become lodged in the digestive system, according to the CPSC. This can result in perforations, twisting and/or blockage of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning, and death.
