  • Trader Joe’s is recalling multiple frozen products due to possible glass contamination. The affected items have best-by dates ranging from February 28, 2026, through February 10, 2027.
  • Ajinomoto Foods North America has expanded its recall to approximately 33.6 million additional pounds of ready-to-eat and not-ready-to-eat chicken and pork products sold under several brands, including Trader Joe’s, Kroger, Ling Ling, and Tai Pei.
  • The recall was triggered by consumer complaints of glass found in products, with carrots identified as the likely source of contamination. Consumers are advised to discard the items or return them for a full refund, and no injuries have been confirmed to date.

Check your freezer. Trader Joe’s is recalling more frozen products because they may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically glass, according to an announcement issued by the company.

Last month, Ajinomoto Foods North America recalled its frozen not-ready-to-eat chicken fried rice products, including packages of Trader Joe's Chicken Fried Rice, due to possible contamination with a foreign material.

Out of "an abundance of caution," Trader Joe's is recalling related products, including the following:

  • Chicken Fried Rice with Best-By Dates 03/04/2026 through 02/10/2027
  • Vegetable Fried Rice with Best-By Dates 02/28/2026 through 11/19/2026
  • Japanese Style Fried Rice with Best-By Dates 02/28/2026 through 11/14/2026
  • Chicken Shu Mai with Best-By Dates 03/13/2026 through 10/23/2026

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), Ajinomoto Foods is also expanding its recall to include approximately 33,617,045 additional pounds of various ready-to-eat and not-ready-to-eat chicken and pork fried rice, ramen, and shu mai dumpling products.

The expansion includes 16 products produced between October 21, 2024, and February 26, 2026, under brand names Ajinomoto, Kroger, Ling Ling, Tai Pei, and Trader Joe’s. These products have best-by dates ranging from February 28, 2026, through August 19, 2027. You can find a full list of the products here.

The products bear establishment number P-18356, P-18356B, or P-47971 inside the USDA mark of inspection and were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

Ajinomoto Foods received consumer complaints reporting glass in its products, triggering the initial recall. Upon further investigation, the FSIS reports that the company determined that a vegetable, specifically carrots, was the likely source of the glass contamination, which impacted the additional products in the expanded recall. There have been no confirmed reports of injury related to any of the recalls yet.

Physical contaminants in food can pose serious health hazards to consumers, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) states. If accidentally ingested, contaminants such as glass could cause dental damage, laceration of the mouth or throat, laceration or perforation of the intestine, and other serious injuries.

If you have packages of any of the recalled products in your freezer, do not use them. Discard the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

According to the notice from Trader Joe's, you can contact the grocery chain's customer relations at (626) 599-3817, Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time, or submit a product feedback form.
