We’re only three months into the year, and Martha has already achieved yet another legendary career milestone. Her second restaurant, The Bedford, opened this weekend at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn. This achievement comes just four years after the debut of her flagship restaurant of the same name, which opened in 2022 at Paris Las Vegas.
Located within the Grand Pequot Tower, The Bedford is inspired by (and aptly named after) Martha’s historic 1925 farmhouse in Bedford, N.Y. It’s a warm, but intentionally designed setting that reflects Martha’s personal style and features a menu of her most beloved dishes, including her late mother’s handmade pierogies and seasonally inspired favorites.
To commemorate its opening, Foxwoods hosted an exclusive grand opening celebration, and we were lucky enough to be in attendance. Here’s a sneak peek into the weekend and a closer look at what diners can expect when visiting The Bedford, Martha’s first restaurant on the East Coast.
The Ribbon Cutting
The weekend kicked off with a ribbon cutting, during which hundreds of people gathered to watch Martha and Foxwoods president and CEO, Jason Guyot, ceremoniously open The Bedford’s doors.
"This isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a story of Martha’s historic 1925 farmhouse," Guyot said. "Every corner of The Bedford reflects something personal, something meaningful, from the thoughtful details in the décor to the recipes on the menu."
Martha and Guyot’s partnership began in 2023. Since then, they’ve worked tirelessly to transform a "dark and low-ceilinged place into a very beautiful rendition" of Martha’s 156-acre farmhouse, she said before cutting the ribbon and officially welcoming The Bedford’s first guests.
A Peek Inside
Following the ribbon cutting, a small group was invited inside the restaurant for a sit-down conversation with Martha and Guyot, and the opportunity to learn more about the work that went into curating The Bedford’s menu and design.
The Interior

Stepping inside The Bedford truly feels like walking into Martha’s own home. The interior is inspired by the main farmhouse on her Bedford property, known as The Winter House, where Martha resides. "I’ve been building my farm since 2004 in Bedford," she said. "I bought a 156-acre place, a rundown beef cattle farm, and have transformed it into a really pretty organic farm that I’m very proud of."
While The Bedford is a much smaller rendition of Martha’s personal residence, she noted that it "works so nicely." And she isn’t wrong. The 10,000 square-foot, 204-seat dining destination perfectly encapsulates what it’s like to spend a day at Martha’s, from the collection of copper pots in the open kitchen to the crystal pieces on the shelves and faux bois patterns on the walls. "It’s very well done," Martha said.

The special-event dining space at The Bedford is modeled after The Green Room in Martha’s own home. The paint colors, the hanging Wedgwood drabware plates, and the furniture are all very similar to what you’d find in Martha’s home. To make the experience even more immersive, the windows in The Green Room show real views of Martha’s Bedford property (there's even a clip of her riding past on one of her horses!).
The Menu
The Bedford features an American farmhouse-style menu that highlights fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Guests can expect signature menu items from the flagship Bedford in Las Vegas, alongside dishes created exclusively for the Foxwoods location, such as Martha’s Giant Turkey Meatball, Pasta Limone, and Crispy Chicken Milanese.

Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted with one of Martha’s signature cocktails—the Meyer Lemon Drop—and served small bites from the menu, including the Corn Jalapeño Fritters, Alexis’ Chopped Salad (conceptualized by Martha’s daughter), Oysters Casino, and the decorvow Chicken Salad Sandwich.
Of course, the menu also features some of Martha’s all-time favorite dishes. When asked what she recommends to first-time diners, she called out Big Martha’s Pierogies as a must-have. "I’m of Polish heritage, and Mom made the best pierogies," she said, noting that they’re served with brown butter.

She added that guests also "have to have the Smashed Baked Potato," which is smashed tableside. "When I first bought my house in Maine, I went to Sebec, Maine, where they grow the potatoes … and the farmers there said 'When you eat a potato, you smash it before you eat it,' because it breaks up all the fibers,” she explained. "We have perfected the smashing, and then you fill it with crème fraîche, chives, bacon, and caviar."
To wash it all down, The Bedford offers an array of signature cocktails, such as the Martha-tini and frozen pomegranate Martha-rita. The beverages, as well as the food, are crafted with ingredients sourced from nearby farms and gardens. "We’re using as many local ingredients as possible," Martha said, adding that some ingredients may even come from her personal farm. "If I have a plethora of something at my farm, I’m going to drive it up here," she quipped.
Grand Opening
The entire day culminated with a fabulous grand opening celebration with some familiar faces walking the red carpet alongside Martha. Among them were model Christie Brinkley, former Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir, rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, and Sex and the City creator Candace Bushnell.

The event gave guests time to luxuriate within the walls of The Bedford, enjoying signature drinks and dishes from the menu, including Martha’s Short Rib Blend Burger sliders, Big Martha’s Pierogies, and mini Crab Cakes, as well as some extra offerings, such as a chilled seafood presentation with fresh oysters, shrimp, and lobster.

There were also interactive culinary stations throughout the restaurant showing off some of Martha’s favorites. Black Diamond caviar was scooped onto mini blinis with your choice of toppings, including crème fraîche, chives, onions, and egg yolks and whites. And one station offered an up-close look at how Big Martha’s pierogies are made.
The evening concluded on a sweet note with a curated dessert selection featuring Upside Down Lemon Meringue Pie, Classic Crème Brûlée, Mile High Chocolate Cake, and Chocolate Pistachio Tart.
Farewell Brunch
We wrapped up the weekend with a sit-down brunch at The Bedford. Unlike its flagship location, the Foxwoods restaurant offers a robust breakfast offering, including highlights like Breakfast Biscuits, Eggs Benedict, Buttermilk Blueberry Pancakes, Donn’s Waffles with Pequot Maple Syrup, and Martha’s iconic Bakery Basket.
Emily Laurae
We started with Martha’s Fresh Pressed Green Juice, which she drinks every morning and attributes to her glowing skin. For our entrees, we ordered Martha’s French Omelet made with fines herbes, aged gruyère, local greens, herb vinaigrette, and rustic tartine, the Orange Ricotta Pancake with orange supremes, whipped ricotta, and wildflower honey, and the Grand Marnier French Toast with raspberries and crème fraîche.
The Bedford serves breakfast and dinner seven days a week, with lunch available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Book today to experience the delicious menu and inviting atmosphere of The Bedford by decorvow.
