Answering the call is Dunn-Edwards, which has selected Midnight Garden (DE5657), a deep, muted green with earthy undertones, as its 2026 Color of the Year.

"Midnight Garden is the green that works everywhere—from cabinetry and walls to accents and exteriors," said Lauren Hoferkamp, color marketing manager at Dunn-Edwards, in a press release. "Its versatility makes it equally at home on interiors and exteriors, pairing effortlessly with natural textures, warm neutrals, or sleek minimalism."

To help inform its 2026 selection, color experts from Dunn-Edwards found that designers and consumers are gravitating toward tones that balance modern sophistication with a growing desire for spaces that feel grounded. In the upcoming year, the paint company foresees consumers wanting to bring nature indoors to feel more connected to the world around them.

Despite being a darker shade, Midnight Garden is an approachable color that can be used in various rooms throughout your home. Use it to color drench your bathroom to achieve a jewel box look, or use it more modestly, such as to upgrade your front door or cabinetry.
