More than 350,000 bottles and pouches of dietary supplements are being recalled because the packaging is not child-resistant, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Because the supplements contain iron, they must be in child-resistant packaging per the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. If they're not packaged properly, they pose a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children, according to the CPSC.
The recall was initiated by Vitaquest International, which produces supplements for various companies, including those affected. The following is a list of supplements that are included in the recall.

For corresponding lot numbers, expiration dates, and UPCs, check the CPSC notice. The lot code can be found on the bottom or side of the package. About 356,140 units are affected.
The recalled supplements were sold at Credo Beauty, Erewhon, Healf, Nutrition World, The Vitamin Shoppe, Fullscript, and Ulta Beauty, and online via Amazon, as well as through medical practitioners’ offices and brand websites from April 2023 through February 2026 for between $13 and $130, depending on the brand and size.
In its recall notice, Vitaquest notes that "the only issue is with the packaging, and specifically, that the packaging is not child-resistant. There are no issues with the product formulation, ingredient quality, or anything else."
So far, no injuries have been reported. If you suspect your child has swallowed iron-containing vitamins, even if the child shows no symptoms, call your doctor, local poison control center, or go directly to the emergency department.
Symptoms of iron poisoning usually appear within six hours after an excessive amount of iron is swallowed, according to eMedicineHealth.com. Symptoms include severe vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dehydration, lethargy, and bloody vomit or stool. If profound poisoning isn't treated, shock and death can occur.
If you have any of these supplements, immediately store them out of sight and reach of children and contact Vitaquest International for information on how to obtain a free child-resistant replacement cap or storage pouch. You can call 844-298-4545 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or email [email protected].
