Bread Sold at Trader Joe's and Other Retailers Recalled Due to Metal Contamination

The products were sold in 10 states.

  • Bakkavor is recalling pizza and focaccia products due to potential metal fragment contamination traced to roasted tomatoes from a supplier.
  • The affected items were sold through HelloFresh and major retailers like Trader Joe’s, Meijer, and Harris Teeter across multiple states, including New Jersey, Texas, and California.
  • The FDA classified this as a Class II recall, meaning the products may cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, and consumers are advised not to eat them and instead discard or return them.

Bakkavor of Charlotte, North Carolina, is recalling some of its pizza and bread items due to contamination from metal fragments, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The company determined that the cause of the metal fragments was roasted tomatoes provided by one of its ingredient suppliers. The products were sold through HelloFresh and various retailers, including Meijer, Trader Joe's, and Harris Teeter in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, Texas, and Virginia.
