Milk Recalled Due to Plastic Contamination—What to Know Now

Check your fridge. Wawa brand milk is being recalled in four states due to possible plastic material contamination, according to separate notices from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The 16-ounce plastic bottles of Wawa milk were sold at store locations in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Almost 22,000 bottles are affected by the recall. The following varieties, including their UPCs, are part of the recall:

• Wawa Reduced Fat Milk 2%, UPC 0072619101438
• Wawa Cookies & Cream Milk, UPC 0072619015158
• Wawa Chocolate Low-Fat Milk, UPC 00726191014908
• Wawa Double Dutch Chocolate Milk, UPC 007261910

The recalls were initiated after “foreign plastic material” was discovered on the fill line in the bottling process. They are classified as Class II recalls by the FDA, meaning that the products can "cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences."
