There is an active recall on 19,688 cases of milk, according to an announcement by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The recall was issued due to a packaging error that may cause the product to spoil prematurely.

The recall affects Horizon Organic Aseptic Plain Whole Milk, which was distributed to retailers in Arizona, California, and Nevada. The product was sold in 8-ounce, 12-pack cartons and can be identified by UPC codes 3663207113 (12-pack) and 3663207127 (single unit). The recalled milk has best-buy dates ranging from March 3, 2025, through March 7, 2025.

On January 17, the FDA labeled this a Class II recall, which is the second-most severe risk level. This classification means it is "a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."

If you have the recalled product in your refrigerator, dispose of it or return it to place of purchase for a refund. Consuming the recalled milk may cause food poisoning due to the possibility of the product spoiling prematurely. Symptoms of food poisoning include vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Contact your healthcare provider if you're displaying any of these symptoms after consuming the recalled product.
