Iced Tea and Lemonade Recall Issued for Undeclared Milk—Here’s What to Know

The beverages were sold at Wawa stores in five states.

Check your fridge. Wawa of Media, Pennsylvania, is recalling some of its store-brand beverages because they may contain an undeclared milk allergen, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The recall affects 16-ounce pints of Wawa Iced Tea Lemon, Wawa Iced Tea Diet Lemon, Wawa Diet Lemonade, and Wawa Fruit Punch, produced by the Wawa Beverage Company. that were sold at a limited number of Wawa stores in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia.

According to the FDA notice, Wawa has removed the products from all of the impacted stores. The retailer identified and corrected a temporary equipment issue that may have resulted in the presence of the undeclared milk allergen in these products.

So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall. Still, the FDA warns that people who have allergies to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume any of these products.

Within a short period of time after consuming milk, people with an allergy may experience symptoms such as hives, upset stomach, vomiting, bloody stools, and, in some cases, anaphylaxis, according to the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI).
