Raw Bistro Pet Fare of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, is recalling its frozen beef dog food because it may be contaminated with Salmonella, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The affected products were distributed directly to consumers and to select distributors from September 1 to September 17 in California, Colorado, Illinois, and Minnesota. The products were sold frozen in sealed packaging. The recall includes the following products: Product Size UPC Lot Number Best-By Date Raw Bistro Dog Fare Frozen Grass-Fed Beef Entrée 3-pound bags 858833002247 239 08/27/2026 Raw Bistro Dog Fare Frozen Grass-Fed Beef Entrée 18-pound cases 858833002629 239 08/27/2026 The lot number and best-by date are printed on the packaging near the bottom of the bag or box. An FDA-collected sample from a distributor tested positive for Salmonella, triggering the recall. So far, no illnesses related to this recall have been reported. Pets infected with Salmonella may become lethargic, have diarrhea (possibly bloody) or a fever, and experience vomiting. Some pets may experience only decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and transmit it to other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and shows these symptoms, contact your veterinarian. Healthy people infected with Salmonella can experience symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever. In rare cases, infections can lead to more serious conditions such as arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. The FDA advises returning the product to the place of purchase for a refund or disposing of it somewhere out of reach of children, pets, or wildlife.
