The recalled mushrooms are from Wiet Peeters Farm Products Limited, based in Charing Cross, Ontario. During a test by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the potential for listeria contamination was found. No illnesses have been reported so far in connection with this recall, according to the FDA.

The recalled mushrooms were distributed to Michigan and Ohio. The product information is below:

  • Aunt Mid’s Fresh Sliced Mushrooms come in a 227g flat blue plastic package marked with UPC 0 33383 676005 on the top and with a best before date of BEST BEFORE 25JL04 stamped on the side.
  • Peeters Mushroom Farm Cremini Sliced comes in a 227g flat black plastic package marked with UPC 0 68414 96960 on the top and with a best before date of BEST BEFORE 25JL04 stamped on the side.
  • Peeters Mushroom Farm Thick Slice Mushroom 10lb cardboard comes in a 10lb cardboard box labeled with Peeters Mushroom Farm. box.

Listeria is a bacterium that can cause an infection called listeriosis. Symptoms of listeriosis vary depending on the severity but may include vomiting, muscle aches, fever, headaches, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions. Symptoms can last from one to three days. If you experience any of these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
