Popular Cookies Recalled After Contamination Found—Check Your Pantry

Check your pantry. Cookies are being recalled due to hard cornstarch lumps found in the product, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The cookies were produced by Mondelēz Global LLC, based in East Hanover, N.J. The affected product is "CHIPS AHOY! Baked Bites Brookie." They're packaged in a .22.4 oz Carton (2.8 oz pouch) and a 7.7 oz Carton (1.4 oz pouch).

The impacted product information is listed below:

  • Case/UPC: 10044000086678; Best when used by: May 9, 2026, May 10, 2026, May 11, 2026, and May 12, 2026
  • Case/UPC: 10044000085657; Best when used by: May 12, 2026, and May 18, 2026

So far, 437 cases are included in the recall. The cookies were sold in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

The recall was initiated on December 30, 2025, but the FDA just upgraded it to Class II, which means the recalled item can "cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."

Consumers who purchased the recalled product should not consume it. They should dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
