Food & Cooking Recipes Drink Recipes Cocktail Recipes How to Make a Margarita 3.0 (5) This classic tequila cocktail is made with just four ingredients—but don't forget the chips and guacamole (they're extra). Yield: 1 drink Citrusy, light, and a touch sour, the margarita has been one of the most popular cocktails since the 1950s. There are endless variations on making a margarita, but you can't go wrong with this classic recipe that lets the tequila, orange liqueur, and fresh lime juice shine. A salt-rimmed glass is optional, but it's an option we always go with. We don't skip the necessary accompaniments—chips and guac—either. Directions Rub lime wedge around the rim of a margarita glass. Fill a saucer with salt and dip the glass, upside down, into the salt. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add tequila, orange-flavored liqueur, simple syrup, and 3 tablespoons lime juice. Shake until well combined and chilled. Strain into salt-rimmed glass. Credit: Bryan Gardner
