Houzz just released its 2025 summer trends report, which breaks down emerging home design trends based on search insights from its community of more than 70 million homeowners, home design enthusiasts, and home professionals.

The website's data reveals that homeowners are embracing entertaining with interest in beverage stations and game rooms on the rise, and are creating cozy, welcoming spaces with the addition of wallpaper, lighting, and color. Here's what to know about these summer design trends.

Immersive Color Schemes

According to the report, homeowners are using more color this season. Searches for "color drenching"—when a single hue is featured across walls, trim, and furniture—are up a whopping 325 percent compared to last year. Interest in cool tones is up 206 percent, while warm color schemes are up 140 percent.

Houzz found that homeowners want to create immersive, mood-setting environments with either monochromatic color schemes that use variations of a single hue or analogous color schemes, which utilize three or more colors next to each other on the color wheel.

Vintage-Inspired Rooms

Vintage design is seeing a significant surge in popularity as more homeowners embrace authenticity, charm, and character in their spaces. Searches on Houzz for "vintage bathroom vanities" rose 313 percent year over year, and homeowners are leaning into the timeless charm of china cabinets and hutches (up 181 percent). According to the data, designers are searching for ideas that evoke a comforting sense of nostalgia to create inviting rooms that are storied and stylish. Searches for “vintage living rooms” and “vintage kitchens” are up 104 percent and 71 percent, respectively.

Gold and Copper Accents

From "copper pendant lighting" (up 250 percent) to "gold bathroom vanity lights" (up 60 percent) to "brushed gold bathroom faucets" (up 41 percent), Houzz search insights show that homeowners are looking to incorporate more metal accents to their spaces. "Copper kitchen sinks" and "range hoods" (up 24 percent and 21 percent, respectively) round out the top searches for glam-meets-industrial inspiration.

French Country

According to Houzz, romantic French country style continues to gain popularity. Searches for "French country bathrooms" are up 54 percent, along with an increased interest in "French country chandeliers" at 287 percent, suggesting that lighting plays a key role in softening and elevating a room, Houzz notes. This style’s mix of vintage elegance and relaxed comfort is also making its way into the heart of the home, with searches for "modern French country kitchen" up 45 percent. 

Wood Elements

According to Houzz, homeowners are looking to add more wood elements to their interiors this summer. Searches for "living rooms with light hardwood floors" are up 400 percent, while searches for "wood paneled offices" and "woven wood shades" saw notable increases at 43 percent and 33 percent, respectively. White oak storage solutions also gained traction, particularly in kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities (up 46 percent and 20 percent, respectively).

Beverage Stations

Homeowners are getting serious about their hosting game this summer, with searches for "dedicated whiskey bars" up 82 percent and "coffee bars" up 19 percent. Searches for "beverage and wine fridges," "small wet bars," and "beverage bars" also grew year over year. Houzz notes that these additions reflect a desire for easy, accessible, and visually appealing options perfect for summer evenings with family and friends and quiet mornings on the patio.

Fun Zones

According to the report, homeowners have a renewed appreciation for areas designed for playtime for both kids and adults. Searches for "putting greens" are up 70 percent, while "Lego rooms," "billiard rooms," and "video game rooms" are all seeing increased attention. Interest in "poker tables" (up 77 percent) and "game tables" (up 20 percent) also shows that more homeowners are looking to host groups of friends and family this summer.

Low-Water Landscaping

As water conservation becomes a greater priority, homeowners are looking for inspiration for low-water landscapes. According to the data, searches for "succulent gardens" were up 205 percent year over year. Mediterranean-style gardens and landscapes that include drought-tolerant plants are also gaining popularity. Homeowners are also exploring practical solutions like "decomposed granite landscapes" (up 37 percent). These sustainable choices are ideal for summer when water usage typically spikes, blending form with function in outdoor design.
