If you're a fan of foods on a stick, check your freezer. Foster Poultry Farms of Livingston, California, is recalling about 3.8 million pounds of chicken corn dog products due to potential contamination with "extraneous material," specifically pieces of wood found in the batter, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The recall covers several varieties of corn dogs with various use-by dates and package sizes. For a complete list of these products, check the FSIS website. The products display the establishment number "P-6137B" either inside the USDA mark of inspection or printed on the packaging.

The items were produced from July 30, 2024, to August 4, 2025. They were shipped to retail stores nationwide and institutional locations, including the Department of Defense and U.S. Department of Agriculture Commodity Foods donations.

The FSIS received a consumer complaint about an injury after someone consumed the product. Additionally, Foster Poultry Farms has received multiple consumer complaints, five of which involved injuries. If you ate the recalled corn dogs and are worried about injury, contact your healthcare provider.

If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. For questions, contact Foster Farms Consumer Affairs at 1-800-338-8051, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST, Monday through Friday, or email info@fosterfarms.com.

This news follows another recent recall by Hillshire Brand Company, which involved nearly 60 million pounds of frozen corn dog and sausage products sold under the State Fair and Jimmy Dean brands, according to the FSIS.

The affected products include corn dogs and pancake-wrapped sausages, all served on sticks, that may be contaminated with pieces of wood embedded in the batter. A complete list of the recalled products can be found here. They bear establishment numbers "EST-582" or "P-894" printed on the packaging.

The issue was found after Hillshire received multiple consumer complaints, five of which involved injuries. The company determined that wooden sticks had entered the production process before battering.

Like the Foster Poultry Farms recall, do not eat the recalled Hillshire products. Instead, throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. For questions about this recall, contact Christina Self, The Hillshire Brands Company’s associate director of customer care, at 888-747-7611.
