Major Coffee Recall: Your Morning Brew May Contain Glass Fragments, FDA Warns

Before you make your next cup of coffee, check the label. Dollar General is recalling its Clover Valley Instant Coffee due to the potential presence of glass fragments, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The 8-ounce jars of coffee have the UPC 876941004069 and lot numbers L-5163, L-5164, and L-5165 with best-by dates 12/13/2026, 12/13/2026, and 12/14/2026, respectively. The lot number and best-by information are printed on the neck of the bottle.

The affected product was sold and distributed between July 9 and 21 exclusively in Dollar General retail stores located in 48 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

A customer notified Dollar General about the potential issue, triggering the recall. According to the FDA announcement, ingesting glass fragments may result in damage to teeth, laceration of the mouth and throat, or perforation of the intestines. No illnesses or injuries related to this recall have been reported so far. Dollar General is currently investigating the source of the glass contamination.
