  • The recall includes multiple flavors sold online and in stores nationwide, with specific lot codes affected.

Check your pantry. Spring & Mulberry of Raleigh, North Carolina, is expanding its recall of select chocolate bars due to possible salmonella contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The expansion follows an investigation conducted by the company’s manufacturing partners, in coordination with food safety experts and the FDA. A single lot of date ingredient used in the production of the chocolate has been identified as the most likely source of the contamination.

Earlier this year, the company announced it was recalling several of its date-sweetened chocolate bars. The recall has now been expanded to include even more flavors.

The affected products were available for purchase online and through select retail partners nationwide since August 2025. The recalled products can be identified by their flavor name, lot/batch codes, and box color. The lot code is listed on the back of the packaging and on the inner flow wrap.

The recall includes the following chocolate bars, along with their UPC and lot code information:

So far, there have been no confirmed reports of illness associated with the chocolate bars. According to the FDA, Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems.

Healthy individuals may experience symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Symptoms can begin between six hours and six days after the bacteria are ingested. Most people are able to recover without receiving treatment within four to seven days.

If you purchased any of the recalled chocolate bars, do not eat them. To receive a refund, take a photo of the product packaging showing the batch code and email it to
