Few things are scarier for pet owners than losing their furry companion. But that was the unfortunate reality for a California couple whose cat, Rayne Beau, went missing for two months during a trip to Yellowstone National Park.

Luckily, 60 days later, Benny and Susanne Anguiano got the call from an animal welfare group that their cat was found in Roseville, California—after traveling more than 800 miles from where he initially went missing.

In June, the couple was camping with their cat—something they do often—when he was startled and ran into the woods. In the days following his disappearance, Benny and Susanne searched Yellowstone for any signs of Rayne Beau, even putting out his favorite treats and toys in the hopes he would return to them.

Despite their best efforts, the couple was unsuccessful in finding their cat and returned home empty-handed. "We had to leave without him," Susanne said in an interview with KSBW. "That was the hardest day because I felt like I was abandoning him."

The couple remained hopeful that they'd be reunited with Rayne Beau again. And after two months, Susanne and Benny's dream came true when they received a message from the pet-tracking service Pet Watch that Rayne Beau had been found. He was brought to the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Roseville after a local woman found him in the street and turned him in.

Benny and Susanne hope their story encourages pet owners to get their furry friends microchipped or invest in a global tracker for their animals. "Definitely microchip your cat or your pet and register the microchip online," Susanne said, adding that she would never have gotten Rayne Beau back had he not been micro-chipped.
