This time around, many of these estimates skewed neutral, like Glidden's Warm Mahogany, Dutch Boy Paints' Melodious Ivory, and, of course—Pantone's Cloud Dancer. However, not everyone believes the new year will feel so muted. Etsy just announced a Color of the Year that looks slightly bolder, while still familiar; in tandem, the brand is also debuting its first-ever Texture of the Year. Inspired by copper's natural aging process, the versatile blue can feel cool and energizing in certain contexts, or warm and cozy in others. "[It] celebrates pieces that feel lived-in and loved, whether that means placing your flowers in an antique pitcher, or passing down a beloved figurine," says Dayna Isom Johnson, Etsy's trend expert. "[It] brings variation to the space through a physical component." The forecasters at Etsy are crowning Washed Linen as the winner for next year—namely because searches for linen clothing are up by over 1,000 percent on the site. Both predictions indicate a shift toward furniture and décor that feels passed down, timeless, and vibrant. "People are adding depth and dimension to their spaces, rather than sticking with the hyper-polished interiors we've seen in the past," says Johnson. It's a welcome shift.
