The Viral Lenox Spice Village Is Back After 35 Years—and at Its Original 1989 Price The Spice Village was discontinued decades ago but is being relaunched after vintage sets took social media by storm. From floral wallpaper and thrifted furniture to the coastal grandmother aesthetic, many of today's most popular trends are ones we've seen before. With this wave of nostalgia comes a demand for products that were popular decades ago, such as the Lenox Spice Village. The collection of 24 porcelain spice jars that are shaped and painted to resemble miniature houses has been discontinued for nearly 35 years—until now. After taking social media by storm last year in viral videos and posts, Lenox has brought back the highly sought-after collectible after more than three decades. The best part? Shoppers can purchase the village at its original price point of $15 per piece. Complete sets sell for upwards of $1,500 on platforms like eBay and Etsy, forcing thrifters and collectors to search for each house from the set piecemeal. While these spice houses have always been popular amongst a niche crowd of vintage lovers, their demand has skyrocketed over the last few years, thanks especially to TikTok. In one video that has amassed 2.8 million views, Dani Klarić showed off her complete Lenox Spice Village, which was given to her as a housewarming gift. "These are miniature little houses that hold all of your cooking spices and they were made by Lenox in 1989 and have been discontinued for 35 years," she said in the video. "They were hand-painted with the cutest little details and also have 24-karat-gold accents, and ever since they went viral during the pandemic, they've become more rare, which made them so expensive." But now the hunt for this rare gem is over. On August 23, Lenox announced that during fall 2024, the brand will be re-releasing its iconic Spice Village at Lenox.com & Macy’s. So far, more than 8,000 consumers have already signed up to be notified about pre-order details, proving that since its 1989 debut, the popularity of the Lenox Spice Village hasn't waned.
