Was this favorite vodka cocktail inspired by sugar-coated lemon drop candies? It's made with just a few ingredients, vodka, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and sugar and has a unique sweet-tart flavor. Don't skip on the sugar rim for the glass, it’s worth the effort, and that first sweet brush against the lips before vodka and lemon fill your mouth is the drink’s calling card.

Directions

Tint sugar with powdered yellow food color, if desired. Place sugar in a saucer. Moisten the rim of a martini glass with a lemon slice. Dip rim in sugar. In a cocktail shaker, combine vodka, Cointreau, lemon juice, and lemon syrup with ice; shake well. Strain into prepared glass.
