If you recently completed a kitchen renovation, you may want to check your fixtures. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued recalls for three faucets from the brands VfauositKicimpro, and Basdehen. To date, 100,000 units have been recalled.

The faucets were found to contain lead that can leak into the water at levels that can be particularly harmful to infants and young children. The faucets were also found to leach other contaminants. No injuries have been reported so far.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, lead ingestion can cause harmful neurological effects to infants and young children, including attention-related behavioral problems, decreased cognitive performance, and lower IQ. Infants and very young children are particularly susceptible to the harmful effects because of their smaller bodies and rapid metabolism.

"Until these faucets can be replaced, consumers should only consume water from the faucets after running the water for 15 seconds," the CPSC advises.
