Close Credit: Jim Wright Sisters Dolly Parton and Rachel Parton George are embracing their inner Martha with the launch of their new cookbook, Good Lookin’ Cookin’—a collection of cherished recipes and holiday hosting tips. Dolly and Rachel recently sat down with Martha during an episode of The decorvow Podcast to discuss their co-authored book, share memories of the family members who inspired it, and—of course—dish on their glam secrets. Largely inspired by their childhood growing up on a farm outside of Nashville, Tennessee, Good Lookin' Cookin' features a selection of humble recipes that will make you feel like a member of the Parton family. Along with their 10 siblings, Dolly and Rachel were raised on a 40-acre farm where they learned to milk cows, tend to various crops, raise chickens, and can fruits and vegetables. "We would grow everything we needed," Rachel tells Martha. The book also pays homage to their late mother, Avie Lee Owens, who was a talented singer and cook. "Our mother was a great cook, she could make anything taste good," Rachel says. One of their mother's specialties was cornbread—and the cookbook features a recipe inspired by her. "What's the secret of good cornbread?" Martha asks. "I think it's an iron skillet," Rachel says. "I think the skillet has to be really hot when you put the batter in and your oven needs to be really hot." Good Lookin' Cookin' features about 82 recipes along with tips from Dolly and Rachel for hosting events all year long, including twelve multi-course menus of their most cherished recipes for New Year's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and more. The book even features recipes from some of their loved ones, including a section for Rachel’s husband's famous ribs. Dolly Parton and Rachel Parton George Dish Up Family Recipes in Their New Cookbook Beyond food, Martha also chatted with Dolly and Rachel about their beauty secrets. "What's your glam routine? What do you do to keep so utterly beautiful?" Martha asks. Dolly attributes her beauty to good lighting, good makeup, and of course, always having her hair done. "You want to look your best, everybody does," Dolly says. Martha concluded her conversation with the Parton sisters by discussing their notable impact on today's youth. "Both of you are amazing role models, and I think to continue to be a role model to the younger generations is so terribly important," Martha says. Explore more: Food & Cooking
