Target is giving Santa a run for his money with its updated holiday plans that include thousands of new items as well as faster delivery to more cities.

This year, the retail giant will introduce 20,000 new items during the holiday season—twice as many as last year—with more than half being exclusive to Target and most priced under $20, plus thousands of gifts starting at $5.

Starting in October, new arrivals will drop every week including exclusive branded apparel, toys, and collectibles from Netflix's Stranger Things, as well as items inspired by the film Wicked: For Good, including beauty products, collectibles, drinkware, themed fashions, and toys.

Brands like Threshold, Hearth & Hand with Magnolia, Studio McGee, and John Derian will also be introducing new collections for seasonal decorating, and expect lots of new food and beverage gifting options as well.

As for savings events, Target Circle Week returns October 5-11; members of Target Circle 360, the retailer's paid membership program, will get exclusive early access starting October 4. Plus, hundreds of weekly Target Circle deals will start to drop beginning November 1, along with the Deal of the Day, which is when select items are up to 50 percent off.

"With our unmatched combination of great products and great prices, Target is making it possible for everyone to celebrate the holidays on a budget," Rick Gomez, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Target, said in a statement.

"This year, our holiday assortment features more new gifts than ever, from cozy, cashmere-like sweaters and faux fur blankets to the hottest toys and beauty items. With more than half of our assortment exclusive to Target, new items dropping every single week, incredible everyday pricing, and weekly deals, we're making it easy for consumers to celebrate the season memorably, without compromising on style or value."

Target is also expanding its next-day delivery service to customers across 35 metro areas by the end of October, including Orlando, Tampa, Charlotte, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh, with more than 20 additional cities coming next year including Cincinnati, Portland, Oregon, and Salt Lake City.

Most items sold at Target are eligible for next-day delivery, and it's free for orders over $35; no minimum order amount is required if you're a Target Circle 360 member or use your Target Circle card.
