Perfectly matching ensembles, traditional bouquets, and over-the-top bach parties have long fallen to the wayside. Wedding parties are now more personalized, with couples putting fresh spins on tradition and being more intentional with how they choose to celebrate these special people in their lives. Those who've seen it all—in this case, professional wedding planners and vendors—are detailing the trends you can expect to see at celebrations this year.

From smaller groups to fresh spins on florals, here are some of the biggest wedding party trends being embraced in 2025, according to those in the know.

The Intimate Inner Circle

There is a notable shift in how couples approach their wedding and bridal parties. More than ever, people are prioritizing small, intimate groups that ensure only your closest crew is by your side on the big day. "[Couples] are looking to foster a deeper, more authentic connection with those who have played the most significant roles in their lives," says event planner Kate Turner.

Raquel Bickford, founder and executive producer for ROQUE Events, refers to these smaller groups as micro-parties. "The idea is to scale back on the size of the bridal party for a more personal, manageable experience," Bickford explains. "With fewer attendants, the couple can focus on a more meaningful connection with their closest friends and family, making each moment even more special."

With a smaller crowd, you'll be able to craft an intentional experience for each member of your wedding party, adds Tuner. "Consider personalized elements such as custom welcome gifts, handwritten notes, or destination bachelorette weekends tailored to the group’s shared interests."

The 'No Wedding Party' Approach

Along with couples having fewer bridesmaids and groomsmen, some are skipping the wedding party altogether. “This shift reflects a growing preference for personalized, relaxed wedding experiences,” says Michelle Durpetti, founder of Durpetti Events. “Couples are prioritizing less stress and financial burden for their friends; a smaller party or no bridal party allows for more focus on unique guest experiences, rather than structured wedding party duties.”

Aesthetic Themes

The mismatched wedding party trend has been popular for a while—but we're starting to see a fresh spin on the concept. Instead of giving members a color palette or varying styles to choose from, wedding party attire is being carefully curated through aesthetic themes.

"Being able to assign a description to your wedding party's attire helps build creativity and inspiration,” says Loni Peterson, founder of LP Creative Events. “Giving them a category, theme, and adjectives is a fun way to help your wedding party find the best fit.”

For example, giving wedding party members a 'cottagecore' theme may result in soft hues and flowy, feminine fabrics; whereas 'Old Hollywood' suggests luxe textiles and classic black tuxes. To ensure everyone is on the same page, providing wedding party members with example photos or an inspirational lookbook.

Fresh Spins on Florals

This wedding party trend encourages you to rethink bridesmaid bouquets. something different with bouquets! For example, Lynette Dow, founder of Lynette Dow Events, says she’s seeing more single bloom bouquets versus mixed bouquets.

“Simple is starting to trend again in regards to less is more; we're seeing one large format bloom,” she says. Another example is flower blocking, where “each bridesmaid carries one specific type of flower that's in the bridal bouquet.”  Other examples include carrying flowers in a basket versus bouquet, carrying a single flower, and handpicked wildflower bouquets.

New Wedding Party Roles

Bickford says that couples are embracing more personalized and inclusive roles within their bridal party. "Think beyond the traditional 'maid of honor' or 'best man' to include friends or family in unique, meaningful ways."

Don't be afraid to get creative with titles and responsibilities. This is your day, so it should reflect your values, story, and closest relationships. "From 'honor attendants' to 'guest experience gurus' or even a 'love story narrator,' these roles are about honoring relationships and including the people who matter most to the couple—regardless of gender or traditional expectations."

Yep, it’s true: Couples are officially starting to move away from over-the-top bachelorette parties filled with wild nights and extravagant excursions. “Today’s couples are redefining pre-wedding celebrations by curating experiences that reflect their personalities,” Turner explains.

To-be-weds are opting for "more thoughtful, intimate gatherings," says Turner, "like wellness retreats, wine-tasting weekends or immersive cultural getaways to create lasting memories with those closest to them."

Joint Bach Parties

Another wedding party trend really taking off is having joint bach parties—which feels like a natural option given the switch to less traditional wedding party roles. "Instead of the couple separating for different weekends ahead of the wedding, join forces and plan an epic getaway with your wedding parties," suggests Nashville-based event planner Casey Cannon. "Time together increases the bond of everyone present and hypes everyone up for the reunion on your wedding day."
