5 Engagement Ring Trends That Are Going to Be Huge This Year From collet settings to stackable styles. Close Credit: We Are Bubblerock While the concept of an engagement ring is centuries old, popular styles change and new trends emerge each wedding season. Couples are constantly adapting classic styles and finding new ways to tell their love story through this meaningful piece of jewelry. As a result, this year's engagement ring trends and "it" rings bridge what's bold with timeless. 2025 engagement rings are all about making a splash. "Bold metal details, wide bands, and oversized bezel or half-bezel settings are all the rage," shares jewelry designer Kegan Fisher, co-founder of Frank Darling. "At Frank Darling, we've long embraced chunkier styles, unique designs, and unconventional diamond settings. It's exciting to see these looks gaining popularity among celebrities and trendsetters in recent months." Remember though: "Your engagement ring is yours for life," says expert jeweler Allison Childers. "While it's easy to be drawn to the latest trends, it needs to complement every outfit, mood, and moment, from day to night." Emerging engagement ring trends are also reflecting this mindset. “We are seeing an emphasis on creating a ring with enduring style, one that is fresh looking while not being tied to a particular era,” says Childers, who also encourages couples to think about how the particular style will work with a wedding band and budget. For example, says Childers, "a chunky setting often comes with a higher price tag, which could leave less budget for the center stone." It's a lot to consider, but you'll find plenty of inspiration below. Here, see the sparkly styles that make up this year’s biggest engagement ring trends. According to Fisher, these settings "frame stones in sleek metal to create a striking vintage-meets-modern aesthetic." "Everyone loves a solitaire, but adding a modern twist elevates this classic style." 02 of 05 Big and Bold Credit: Rebecca Yale Photography The shift towards lab-grown diamonds and the popularity of gemstones means couples can often afford a larger center stone than they would if they were opting for a traditional natural diamond. This cost-efficiency has lead to a trend of bigger, bolder stones. "When it comes to stone, the demand for larger, more impactful diamonds continue to rise," says Fisher. "Looks are becoming bolder with bigger diamonds and bigger bands." 11 Best Places to Shop for Lab-Grown Diamonds Online 03 of 05 Stackable Styles Credit: Courtesy of @thisislaurendavis While it's typically tradition to wear both a wedding band and engagement ring (or one or the other), many are adding to that stack. Layering various bands and rings is becoming a popular way to celebrate anniversaries, births, and more occasions. Some even start out with a small stack of more than two bands right off the bat as their engagement ring—or rings, we suppose! "It's important to consider the entire ring stack—the stone, setting, and bands working together," says Fisher. "Your engagement ring serves as the foundation, so think about how it will pair with future bands." 04 of 05 East-West Settings Credit: EMS-FORSTER-PRODUCTIONS / Getty Images Elongated diamonds (think: oval, baguette) don’t have to lay vertically in their settings. Growing in popularity are east-west engagement rings, where the center stone is set horizontally on the band. "This style gives the wearer a diamond-forward, bold look that’s both classic and full of personality—with a literal twist," explains Fisher. "It's not just trendy," Fisher says of the style, "but has become a true staple." 05 of 05 Metal-Forward Rings Credit: Westend61 / Getty Images Remember what we said about those big ol' stones? Well, they're now coming with heartier bands to match. "We're seeing a shift away from delicate, ultra-thin bands," says Fisher. "Consumers are gravitating towards more durable designs with bold settings and wider bands." These metal-first styles aren't just adept at keeping larger stones more secure—they're also uniquely, aesthetically striking and can shift the focus from stone to setting (if that's more your thing).
