If you enjoy cooking or baking at home, you know that KitchenAid's high-end appliances are highly sought after. But perhaps even more popular than the appliances are the beautiful shades they come in, from iconic bright red to a milky sky blue. For 2025, the brand has chosen Butter as its Color of the Year, a delicate yellow that is both nostalgic and modern.
Butter is a soft, energizing yellow with a creamy, satin finish. KitchenAid hopes the shade will evoke comforting memories and create a sense of delight in the kitchen. The brand's most popular appliance—the Artisan Stand Mixer—is now available in Butter exclusively at Williams Sonoma.

Experts at Whirlpool (the owner of KitchenAid) spend years analyzing interior design, social, cultural, and aesthetic trends to choose the Color of the Year. In total, the selection process takes about three years.
For this year’s color, the team wanted a shade that felt comforting and nostalgic. Butter is designed to remind people of kitchens from the 1950s or 1960s, which were often decorated with a similar shade. In fact, the inspiration for Butter came from a vintage butter knife found in an antique shop. "We worked closely with our paint partner to explore different shades of yellow to get the nuance just right," said Brittni Pertijs, design manager for Whirlpool, focusing on color for KitchenAid.
Although it is brighter than last year's Color of the Year (Blue Salt), Butter acts as a classic neutral that will stand the test of time. It pairs well with various shades of blue, like periwinkle, as well as muted, earth-inspired tones, like sage green.
