Like many interior designers, Jeremiah Brent's approach to his new Crate & Barrel furniture collection was inspired by his personal experience. "I've definitely been taking notes over the last few years," he tells decorvow. "What have I been reaching for? What do I wish I had?"

Unlike many of his peers, however, Brent's distinct perspective is informed not just by the many design eras that he loves, but also by reality TV. Last December, his first season starring in Queer Eye debuted on Netflix. "I realized with doing television that you can live really beautifully and affordably," he says. "Design has changed, and that's a good thing about it-and a beautiful thing about it."

His ambitious new collection for Crate & Barrel, dubbed the Collected Home, encapsulates this ambition for a stylish, timeless home that won't break the bank. The Formelle sofa is a great example, which Brent notes has clean lines reminiscent of the designs of famed French minimalist Jean-Michel Frank. Its deep seat is upholstered in textured fabrics, however, that give it a more contemporary feel.

A more personal piece for Brent is the Michel chair, which takes cues from a seat in his own home. "It's inspired by a vintage chair that I've rocked my children to sleep in," he says. "It now sits in our kitchen where we all come together." The version for Crate & Barrel is upholstered in a nubby fabric, with a more architectural, triangular back.

Collected Home includes smaller décor pieces as well, which naturally have a much more accessible price point. These vases, lamps, and bowls can be layered with other pieces in the collection, or they can stand on their own. The idea is that anyone can walk into the store and shop any aspect of the collection, whether it's a small glass candleholder or a large, upholstered sofa.

"This is one of the biggest things that I’ve ever done," Brent adds. "It's such a pure expression of my aesthetic and what I love."
