After Spending 1,739 Days in a Shelter, Jones Has Finally Found His Forever Home—See the Video Here

After spending almost five years at the Humane Society of Greater Miami North, Jones, a 13-year-old Terrier mix, finally found his forever home. His adoption brings a happy conclusion to a story many people on the internet have been following for years. 

Jones became an internet sensation in 2023 when he was featured in a TikTok video posted by Chicago-based TikTok creators Eric Noxon and Joseph Masloski, also known as "The Dog Guys." The video received over a million views, which led to Jones being fostered but never adopted—until now.

In January, Noxon and Masloski returned to the shelter to learn that Jones was still there. "Jones arrived at the shelter at nine years old. We shared his story back in 2023, and his video reached millions. But now it's 2025...and he's still here. Still waiting," they captioned a TikTok video, updating viewers on Jones. "It's heartbreaking to see such a kind, loving soul spend years behind kennel doors." 

In the video, they took Jones out for the day, got him groomed, and captured new footage of him in the hopes of helping him get adopted. And finally, after 1,739 days in the shelter, Jones found his forever home.

He was adopted by someone who recently lost their senior pet and couldn't bear the thought of Jones spending his final years without a family. The Humane Society of Greater Miami North shared footage of Jones' adoption on TikTok. "It’s always a bittersweet moment when our long-timers walk out those doors with their new families, but we couldn’t be happier for our sweet man, Jones," the caption read.

The video shows Jones heading off to his forever home with his new family, and viewers couldn't get enough of his joyful expression as he made his way to the car. One person wrote, "I'm not crying, you're crying," and another commented, "I'm crying! Yay Jonsie, you did it, buddy! Your forever Mama found you!"

The shelter said that Jones has always been a favorite among their staff, volunteers, and foster parents. "A HUGE thank you to everyone who posted, shared, and advocated for Jones—you helped him find his perfect match! Now, onto finding loving homes for the rest of our seniors and long-timers!" the shelter wrote on TikTok.
