Friendly’s Cookies & Cream ice cream was mistakenly packaged in 48-fluid-ounce Vanilla Bean ice cream cartons with a Cookies & Cream lid; the cartons do not alert consumers to soy and wheat ingredients. The ice cream was distributed through a single distribution center to retail stores in Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The cartons have a best-by date of 11/26/25, which can be found on the lid. So far, no illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy and/or wheat run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products, the FDA warns. Allergic reactions normally occur within minutes of eating the food, but can sometimes appear a few hours later. Symptoms of a food allergy include hives or red, itchy skin; a stuffy or itchy nose; sneezing; itchy, teary eyes; vomiting, stomach cramps, or diarrhea; and swelling. In some cases, people can experience anaphylaxis, a serious, life-threatening allergic reaction. Symptoms include hoarseness, throat tightness, or a lump in the throat; wheezing, chest tightness, or trouble breathing; and tingling in the hands, feet, lips, or scalp. If you experience any of these symptoms, call 911 immediately.
